Surf Report for the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of August

East Coast

The east coast is looking very flat for the weekend with no incoming swell on either day so call into Brittas Bay Surf School for SUP Tours and lessons.

South Coast

Tramore is not looking like it is going to have anything above 1ft for either Saturday or Sunday with light onshore winds for both days.

South West

Garretstown is looking like it will only have 1ft with possibly a tiny bit bigger on sets for Saturday with an 8 second period swell with light onshore winds from the south. Sunday looks to have a little better with some of the sets hitting 2ft but the winds are more cross onshore and a little stronger so the wave could have a little bit more of a bump on the face. Inch Beach in Kerry is looking small in the 1-2ft with occasional bigger sets but not much bigger but the winds look to be from the south and hitting up to 15mph at times. Sunday sees more waves in the 2-3ft range but with the winds showing to be a little stronger from the south but this could be lighter on the day with the land drag as the winds are coming from the south south east.

West Coast

Lahinch had some nice 2ft waves today (Friday) and looks to continue into Saturday with 2ft waves forecast with light winds from the south which won’t mess with the wave too much but could bring a little bump to the face. Waves have a smaller 8 second period so will favour bigger boards or foamies. Sunday looks to have a little better conditions with 2-3ft waves with a slightly bigger 9 second period so slightly better and a little bit more push to the wave with the winds more cross offshore with that south south east direction but it looks to turn onshore later in the day. Tides are high at 6am and pm Saturday and 6.30am and closer to 7pm Sunday so allow 2 hours either side for safe access and exit.

North West

Saturday in Strandhill sees the warriors run so I would avoid as the roads will be closed from mid morning to late in the day to facilitate the race running up through the village. But you are not missing much as the swell is coming from the south west which will miss any of the north facing spots and really only bring waves to the likes of Tullan Strand in Bundoran which likes the south west but its not big so will still only be 1-2ft Saturday and similar for Sunday with light breezes Saturday and light to moderate breezes Sunday from the south.

North Coast

Portrush is looking flat for both days of the weekend with the swell barely breaking 6 inches with light offshores Saturday and moderate offshore winds Sunday.

Surf Safe and Enjoy,
