Surf Report for the weekend of the 10th and 11th of October

East Coast

Both Saturday and Sunday are looking small to flat for the East Coast with very little swell coming up the channel and strong offshore winds on Saturday.

South Coast

Tramore is looking like it will only get 1ft on Saturday with moderate cross shore winds from the west. Sunday looks to be even smaller with the winds blowing from the east.

South West

Garretstown has a good swell running from the west with a good 10 second period but the winds are also westerly which is going to make for cross onshore conditions with waves in the 2-3ft range with Sunday showing small conditions around the 1ft mark with moderate easterly winds making for small to flat blustery conditions. Inch Beach in Kerry is going to be maxed out Saturday with the winds blowing onshore from the west with a touch of north in it but the swell is forecast to be over 12ft. Sunday drops back to 2-3ft with moderate to strong offshore winds from the south east.

West Coast

Saturday in Lahinch looks like the westerly winds will make for messy onshore conditions so probably best to give Saturday a miss. Sunday looks like it will have offshore conditions with the winds lightest in the morning early. The swell is coming from the west north west which means that it will be a little smaller than forecast with 2-3ft conditions at best with the winds gusting to over 20mph and building throughout the day. Tides are high at 6pm Saturday and 6.30pm Sunday leaving the full day for waves.

North West

With the onshore winds, all west facing spots on the north west are going to be blown out with the winds gusting to near 30mph and with 13ft swells, it should be avoided. Strandhill then on Sunday looks to have 4-5ft conditions with a good north west swell and with the winds having swung to south east making for offshore conditions that are lightest in the morning and building. In the Bundoran area, all spots are maxed out Saturday although Rossnowlagh will have a wave but a very messy one that probably should be skipped. Sunday then should have some nice conditions for Rossnowlagh with offshore conditions. Tullan will probably be big first thing but as the day goes on could become really nice.

North Coast

Portrush is going to be big and maxed out Saturday with a 12ft swell coming right into the East Strand and Whiterocks with the winds following right behind it in the same direction so definitely give Saturday a miss. Sunday turns light winds and offshore with 4-5ft conditions first thing but even though the morning winds are offshore I would still expect the waves to have quite a bump on them from the winds the day before. Swells are biggest in the morning and smaller as the day goes on so if it’s too big for you first thing at 4-5ft, it will drop off later in the day to 1-2ft by evening so check in to East Strand and Whiterocks.

Surf Report for the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of October

East Coast

Both Saturday and Sunday this weekend are showing not much by way of swell with the forecast looking like small to flat with moderate offshore winds.

South Coast

Saturday in Tramore starts off with 2ft conditions with very light winds but with it being only a 7 second period, this will really only suit a longboard or foamie. The swell is dropping throughout the day so get on it earlier as Sunday drops back to 1ft with light to moderate onshore winds.

South West

Garretstown could have some nice conditions on Saturday with 3ft conditions from a medium 9 second period with light breezes for the day. Sunday turns onshore with light to moderate onshore conditions and a smaller 1ft wave so make the most of Saturday. Inch Beach in Kerry is showing some really nice conditions for Saturday with the winds at Inch always over the actual wind strength so expect 3-4ft conditions with light cross shore conditions but these shouldn’t affect the waves too much. The winds on Sunday do pick up quite a bit as with most spots this weekend so expect 2ft conditions but with moderate onshore winds.

West Coast

Lahinch is looking really nice on Saturday with light winds all day and a good swell of up to 6ft coming through but this is only on the back of a 9 second period so expect 2ft conditions with 3ft at times and only light breezes. Sunday looks to mess this up as there is a north swell coming through but the secondary swell is still a decent 4.5ft at 7 seconds but the winds are the kicker on Sunday with direct onshore conditions so waves will probably only be 1-2ft blown over. Tides are high at 10.30 which means that the morning is out Saturday and high is at closer to 12 Sunday so wait until the tides drop off the rocks before entering the water.

Northwest

Strandhill looks to have a nice 10 second period coming through which should bring 2-3ft conditions with light cross shore winds Saturday before Sunday turns southerly in the wind direction making for choppy cross shore conditions that are going to make for bumpy waves with 3ft messy conditions. In the Bundoran area it should still be good conditions for the competition with Tullan Strand showing 3ft conditions with a light winds all day Saturday and Sunday will have 2-3ft conditions but the winds are much stronger making for choppy waves coming in off the sea.

North Coast

Portrush looks to have 2ft waves on Saturday with a light cross offshore wind for East Strand and more offshore on Sunday when the winds go southerly but pick up in strength a little to make for moderate offshore winds to a 1-2ft wave possibly bigger with the 11 second period.
