East Coast
Saturday looks to start off small but very quickly build as the winds build with the winds gusting over over 50mph so extreme care should be taken with the waves at their biggest in the middle of the day and dropping into the evening. Waves should be in the 2-3ft range with bigger on sets and that south wind will be strong throughout the day. Sunday looks to drop back to a small to flat wave before Monday picks up again to bring 2-3ft conditions from mid morning on with strong southerly winds again. With the winds forecast for the weekend on the east coast, extreme caution should be applied and if in doubt, do not paddle out.
South Coast
Saturday in Tramore is going to be messy onshore conditions and should be given a miss. Sunday sees the winds moderate to strong from the west making for messy cross shore conditions and Sunday sees the winds return to strong southerly so I would not recommend Tramore this weekend.
South West
Garretstown is also a no go for the weekend with the conditions showing strong winds and large swell all weekend leaving it unsafe. Inch Beach in Kerry is also maxed out for the weekend.
West Coast
Lahinch is looking like there might only be small winds on Saturday morning and Monday morning but this could all change. The rest of the weekend is looking fairly maxed out so I wouldn’t not travel for waves but if you’re in the area. The waves are looking big and unruly with the onshore winds so I wouldn’t not probably give it a miss. Check in with the local surf schools if unsure.
North West
Strandhill is going to be maxed out from Friday right through until Monday evening leaving only spots that will kill off some of the size as options. Streedagh could be a good shout over the weekend for the times when the winds are southerly such as Saturday morning and Monday but the rest of the time, I would expect onshore mess. The Bundoran area is going to be maxed out and onshore with Rossnowlagh as the only spot that may have a small bit of clean on Monday but with the strength of the winds, I would expect it to be a white water mess for the weekend.
North Coast
Portrush looks to be offshore on Saturday morning and strong offshore first thing but this very quickly jumps up to nearly 60mph offshore which is nearly 100km/h so I would be avoiding unless you have experience surfing in those winds. Sunday turns strong onshore leaving Monday as the best day over the BH weekend with 3-4ft conditions dropping throughout the day with offshore winds that are lighter in the morning and afternoon but strong offshore around midday.
