Surf Report for the weekend of the 29th and 30th of August

East Coast

Saturday is looking small to flat in Wicklow with very little swell. Sunday has a small pulse that could bring 1-2ft wind swell by Sunday afternoon into evening but this will be late arriving and be wind driven.

South Coast

Tramore is looking semi-decent for Saturday with 2-3ft conditions for most of the day with light to moderate offshore winds. This will build further into the evening with the winds staying light offshore. Sunday looks to turn light to moderate onshore but this should still bring 2-3ft conditions and possibly bigger later in the day.

South West

Garretstown looks good with a 3-4ft wave Saturday with offshore winds before Sunday picks up to bring some onshore conditions with a 3-4ft wave at 8 seconds with the onshore winds affecting the quality of the wave. Inch Beach in Kerry is showing to build Saturday starting off with small to flat and building throughout the day to 3-4ft by evening with the winds showing light to moderate onshore. Sunday looks to pick up in strength in the winds making for 4-5ft with blown over conditions.

West Coast

Lahinch Beach has small to flat conditions for Saturday with not much happening and light winds before Sunday bring 2-3ft conditions on the beach with light breezes which should make for good longboard or foamie conditions. Tides are high before 7am and pm Saturday with quite a large high so allow 2 hours either side and then Sunday has the high after 7am and pm so again leave 2 hours either side for safe access and exit.

North West

That swell that is making all of the southerly spots light up for Sunday is not going to make it up to the north west so Strandhill is looking like it won’t get above 1ft for Saturday and Sunday until a small pulse Sunday evening when it might break into the 2ft mark. This will be the same for Bundoran with only 1ft waves here at the moment and on through the weekend with light breezes only.

North Coast

Portrush is looking like it won’t get much above 1ft for the weekend with small to flat conditions and light breezes only.

Surf Report for the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of August

East Coast

It is looking very flat for the weekend in Wicklow with no incoming swell and a northerly moderate wind making things feel a little cooler on the east coast.

South Coast

Tramore is also flat for the weekend with a very small big period swell that is not enough to bring anything to the bay. It could have a 1ft ripple coming through Sunday but this will only favour lessons or foamies.

South West

It won’t get above 1ft in Garretstown with offshore winds on both days but waves will be small and infrequent. Inch Beach in Kerry is too small for the waves to make it into the bay so expect only ripples for the weekend with northerly winds.

West Coast

Lahinch is also looking small to flat for the weekend with the first signs of swell typically arriving on Monday for those in the area but Saturday and Sunday will struggle to get over 1ft with light breezes for the weekend. Tides are high at 2 Saturday and 3 Sunday but there is little difference between low and high so the tides will move very slowly.

North West

Strandhill will also be small to flat for the weekend with very little swell coming through with waves Friday up to 1ft or slightly bigger but the weekend will be smaller again with light winds from the north Saturday and light breezes on Sunday but less than 5mph. In the Bundoran area, it’s a similar story with only ripples forecast which means only Tullan will have a wave and this will be small to flat depending on the tides.

North Coast

Portrush is looking small to flat Saturday with northerly small wind swell which will bring a weak 5 second less than 1ft wave. Sunday could have a 1ft wave on West strand but this will be the only wave for the weekend with light winds.

Surf Report for the weekend of the 15th and 16th of August

East Coast

It’s looking very flat on the east coast this weekend. Call Brittas Bay Surf School for SUP tours and lessons.

South Coast

Tramore is also looking flat for the weekend with no swell. Tramore SUP & Surf will have you covered for SUP Tours.

South West

Garretstown won’t get above 1ft on Saturday and flat for Sunday with light offshore winds. Inch Beach in Kerry will be below the minimum required to bring waves so expect possibly 1-2ft light onshore winds Saturday and stronger onshore.

West Coast

Lahinch is showing 3-4ft in the morning but this is unlikely and will end up more like 2ft with cross onshore light winds from the north west. This will drop a little over the day and be more in the 1-2ft range for the rest of the day with Sunday showing a slightly north westerly swell which will also struggle to get in so 1-2ft likely again on Sunday with light to moderate onshore winds. Tides are high at 7am and pm Saturday and 8am and pm Sunday and they are big highs and lows so allow 2 hours out of the water either side of high.

North West

Strandhill is looking like the swell could be up to 2-3ft on Saturday with the best swell early in the morning with the winds also lightest from the north west at this time. The winds build stronger onshore into the afternoon making it feel more like 1-2ft with Sunday showing more of 1ft as the swell angle is completely off for Strandhill and it’s only the secondary swell that will make it in and this is just wind swell. In the Bundoran area it is showing 1-2ft for Saturday with the odd bigger set coming through in the morning with light onshore winds all day with Sunday bringing 1ft and light southerly winds all day.

North Coast

Portrush could get up to 1-2ft for Saturday but this is on the back of a 9 second period swell with onshore winds for Saturday. Sunday sees the winds swing offshore but the swell won’t bring much above 1ft with a small 8 second period.

Surf Report for the weekend of the 8th and 9th of August

East Coast

Both Saturday and Sunday are both showing as flat for the weekend with no incoming swell due for a long period.

South Coast

Tramore is also showing as flat for the weekend with the forecasted swell being below 1ft for the weekend with moderate onshores for Saturday and light breezes for Sunday.

South West

Garretstown is also looking small for Saturday at 1-2ft with moderate onshores winds gusting up to 16mph with Sunday dropping back slightly smaller and much lighter winds. Periods are small here so there will be very little power in the wave so it will really only support foamies or kids. Inch Beach in Kerry is looking small at around 2ft for Saturday with a small northerly swell and a secondary swell from the south west with southerly winds. Sunday looks a little smaller as it is only a northerly swell with a much smaller southerly with light onshores making for small marginal conditions.

West Coast

Lahinch looks like it could be nice on Friday evening with a light onshores making for 2ft conditions with a small bump on them but still a cleanish wave. Saturday morning starts off with light winds but the swell has dropped from the south and it is more of a north swell which could struggle to come in at anything more than 1-2ft with Sunday having more west in the swell but also west in the winds making for small 1-2ft onshore conditions. Tides are high at 2pm Saturday and 3pm Sunday so allow 2 hours either side for safe entry and exit.

North West

Winds on Saturday around Strandhill and the north west coast are southerly which should make for offshore conditions for Enniscrone and Strandhill with 3ft conditions for Strandhill with offshore winds on Saturday. Sunday has light winds with the wind direction slightly onshore but it should be light enough and slightly smaller waves in the 2ft region. In the Bundoran area it is looking like a Tullan Strand weekend with 3-4ft conditions on Saturday dropping throughout the day to more like 2-3ft with light to moderate southerly winds. Sunday looks more onshore for Tullan but it should still have 2ft bumpy conditions.

North Coast

Portrush will have the better conditions on Whiterocks and East Strand with the winds blowing southerly on Saturday and best first thing in the morning as out drops throughout the day. Waves should be 2ft in the morning before Sunday drops slightly to 1-2ft but the winds turn northerly on Sunday making for slightly messy conditions so make the most of Saturday.

Surf Report for the August Bank Holiday Weekend

East Coast

Unfortunately it’s looking flat for the whole weekend on the east coast with no swell big enough to bring waves. Sup rentals and tours are the only option.

South Coast

Both Saturday and Sunday are flat with Monday only bringing a 1ft wave with offshore winds but these will be barely breezes.

South West

Garretstown is looking flat Saturday, 1ft Sunday and could get up to 2ft on Monday with offshore breezes less than 10mph.Inch Beach is looking marginal for a wave as the swell is hovering on what’s needed to bring waves with the likelihood of flat Saturday and Sunday with Monday showing the best chance of 2ft and offshore light winds.

West Coast

Lahinch is looking small to flat for both Saturday and Sunday with 1-2ft forecast for Monday with offshore winds with the high tide before 9am so leave at least 2 hours before getting in and out of the water before 7pm.

North Coast

Strandhill is looking like it’s going to struggle to get over 1-2ft for both Saturday and Sunday with Monday dropping down to flat. In the Bundoran area it is looking onshore for most of the weekend with the only reprieve being Sunday when the winds drop back but the waves won’t get above 1-2ft from the north west so a little bumpy. Monday goes offshore but drops to less than 1ft.

North Coast

Portrush is looking small to flat for the weekend with it not getting above 1ft for any of the days.

Surf Report for the weekend of the 25th and 26th of July

East Coast

Conditions are looking flat to small for the weekend on the east coast with very little swell coming through but some gusty winds blowing westerly on Saturday at 15mph offshore from the west south west and on Sunday blowing to over 20mph from the west north west.

South Coast

It is looking small to flat for Saturday with very little swell coming through with the first signs of ripples on Sunday when it might break at just 1ft but this will be a small period weak waves that will really only suit kids.

South West

Garretstown is looking like that there will only be weak onshore 5 second period waves with light to moderate onshore winds. On Sunday this could break as much as 2ft with the winds cross offshore gusting up to 20mph. Inch Beach in Kerry looks like it could be 2ft on Saturday for most of the day with onshore winds before the afternoon when the swell period and swell builds to bring 3-4ft conditions but with moderate to strong onshore winds leaving no shelter for any good waves.

West Coast

Lahinch is also going to suffer from the onshore winds with westerly winds on both Saturday and Sunday with the swell coming from the north west which means that some of the swell will back off before it hits the beach but it should still bring 2-3ft conditions but with the onshore winds, this will be blown over. On Sunday the swell is also north westerly which may bing 2-3ft blown over. Tides are high after 4 Saturday but it’s a very low high tide which may not stay on the rocks for long so monitor before you enter the water to check if it’s coming in or going out. Sunday also only sees the high tide hit 3m which could allow for shortened time out of the water on high around 5pm.

North West

With the north west swell forecast for the west coast, this will favour spots like Strandhill but the westerly and north westerly winds are not going to favour any spots. Strandhill will likely see 3-4ft conditions on both days and possibly bigger on sets but the onshore winds may blow these waves over to make the waves weaker and mushy. Winds on Saturday are blowing 10-20mph onshore with Sunday showing 15 to 20+ mph making for onshore conditions. These will be perfect for lessons and foamies but not the greatest for improvers. In the Bundoran area the winds are also going to be the Achilles heel with the onshore winds making things messy at Tullan and leaving Rossnowlagh as the only spot for those keen as the direct onshore conditions can be handled better with the waves coming straight in and the winds blowing the peaks over but still leaving something for foamies and longboards but the winds will be hovering around the 15mph onshore and gusting stronger on Sunday.

North Coast

Conditions on the north coast are in the 2ft range today (Friday) but they are due to jump quite a bit over the the course of tomorrow starting out at 2ft but building to 3-4ft later in the day with similar for Sunday but the winds are going to mess with the conditions but the best spot for some of the winds will definitely be East Strand which may offer the best chance of shelter.

Surf Report for the weekend of the 18th and 19th of July

East Coast

Things are looking very small to flat for the weekend in Wicklow with moderate northerly winds on Saturday and light northerly winds on Sunday.

South Coast

Tramore is also suffering from the good weather with no waves forecast for the weekend with offshore winds on both days but much lighter Sunday.

South West

Garretstown is also flat for both days over the weekend with no swell to bring anything bigger than half a foot on both days. Inch Beach is also not going to see enough swell to bring waves to the beach on both Saturday and Sunday.

West Coast

Lahinch is also going to be flat for the weekend with northerly winds Saturday and light northerly winds Sunday. Tides are high at 8.30am and pm Saturday and after 9am and pm Sunday.

North West

While Strandhill is showing a small swell of up to nearly 3ft, this is at 5 seconds which means that it is a poor wind swell so it will barely produce waves of anything greater than 1ft which may be ok for lessons but improvers will struggle. Winds are onshore directly onto the beach with the winds gusting to 15mph onshore. Sunday sees the winds drop back a bit but they are still onshore and the period has only slightly improvers with first thing showing 1-2ft Sunday morning with light onshores so expect small bumpy conditions but the cleanest you can expect. In the Bundoran area it is looking small and onshore for Saturday with 1ft waves at best in the evening as the second swell comes in at 7 seconds but with the winds onshore all day, it is going to be bumpy. Sunday sees more of the same, small bumpy onshore conditions breaking around 1ft with little push.

North Coast

Portrush is showing 1-2ft from a 6 seconds wind swell which means bumpy onshore conditions with very little hope of shelter from a north west wind and this continues into Sunday with the winds not dropping in strength at any point.

Surf Report for the weekend of the 11th and 12th of July

East Coast

It is looking small to flat with a small northerly wind swell coming down the channel for both days over the weekend with Wicklow only producing nothing over 6 inches. This should be ok on both days for SUP tours with Brittas Bay Surf School.

South Coast

Tramore is also looking flat for the weekend with offshore winds making for perfect SUP conditions with Tramore Surf & SUP for the weekend.

South West

Garretstown is also looking flat for the weekend with no swell coming through but offshore winds. Inch Beach is looking small on Saturday with 1-2ft conditions that will be weak and may not break much above the 1ft but with the winds cross offshore it could be ok for a foamie and a bit of fun. Sunday drops back to be too small for any waves.

West Coast

Lahinch is looking like it could have 1-2ft for the day on Saturday with the winds barely blowing as breezes. The swell does have a touch of north in the primary swell but there is a secondary south westerly swell which means that it will struggle to get in but for those on foamies, it should have at least 1ft in it and possibly bigger with the two swells working together. Sunday however looks small to flat with light offshore winds. Tides are high at 3.30 Saturday and 4.30 Sunday.

North West

Strandhill is looking like it could get 1 to 2ft on Saturday with a semi-decent swell coming in at nearly 3.5ft and 9 seconds with a northerly wind but this is a weak swell and will probably favour foamies or longer craft with Sunday dropping to below 1ft. In the Bundoran area it is showing light northerly winds coming across a 2ft wave that will struggle to have much power but might be ok for a small bumpy session at Tullan with Sunday dropping back to less than 1ft for the day with light offshore winds.

North Coast

Portrush is looking 1ft and onshore Saturday with similar for Sunday but the wind direction might suit better conditions for West Strand with 1ft waves at best.

Surf Report for the weekend of the 4th and 5th of July

East Coast

It’s looking very flat with for the whole weekend on the east coast with no waves incoming. Winds are light to moderate from the south west. Call the team in Brittas Bay Surf School for SUP lessons and tours over the weekend as the weather should be good also.

South Coast

Tramore is also looking small to flat with a max of 1ft Saturday with light to moderate cross shore winds with Sunday showing very light onshore breezes but still flat.

South West

Garretstown is showing small conditions with 1-2 ft max for Saturday with light onshore winds with Sunday showing similar but slightly smaller conditions. The period is very low so this will probably only favour foamies or lessons. Inch Beach in Kerry is showing 2ft conditions on Saturday with possibly bigger on sets but the period is only 9 seconds so a lot of the swell is only wind swell from the onshore winds gusting over 20mph. Sunday sees the period drop to 8 seconds so expect similar onshore conditions. Ok for those keen to get wet as there will be waves to be had but just not great quality.

West Coast

Lahinch is displaying 5-7ft conditions on the charts but this is really probably only going to be 2ft with the onshore winds blowing over the waves making for smaller appearing conditions on the 9 second period Saturday dropping to 8 seconds on Sunday. Winds are around 15-20mph onshore making for blown over waves but there will be waves for those keen to break out the bigger boards or foamies. Just be careful of the winds when carrying or coming off your board. Tides are high at 8.30am and pm Saturday and after 9am and pm Sunday.

North West

Strandhill is looking like it is going to be onshore for the weekend but the waves on Friday are supposed to be onshore also but that wind hasn’t appeared yet. Expect 2-3ft conditions with onshore winds up to 15-20mph making for slightly messy conditions for both Saturday and Sunday. In the Bundoran area it is looking like a small 2ft Tullan weekend with the winds bringing messy onshore conditions to both days with small period weaker waves favouring longboards or foamies.

North Coast

On Saturday East Strand could have a small bit of shelter with 2ft conditions from the 10 second period swell but the winds are blowing from the west making for slightly cross shore conditions. Sunday sees the period drop to 9 seconds making for only 1-2ft conditions with winds blowing moderate from the south west leaving cross shore conditions for West Strand or cross off for the Arcadia corner of East Strand.

Surf Report for the weekend of the 27th and 28th of June

East Coast

Saturday looks like it could have a small 1-2ft wave on the east coast but this is marginal and only dependent on the wind blowing on the east coast with gusts forecast up to 43mph. It is more likely that the conditions would be 1ft more than 2 with a 5-6 second period coming from the winds. Sunday looks smaller again with the winds dropping back a little so only 1ft max.

South Coast

With the south winds that are bringing small waves up to Wicklow, this will see onshore messy conditions for Saturday with 2-3ft blown over waves. Sunday sees the winds drop back in strength to less than 20mph on the gusts but this is still onshore and only around 1-2ft.

South West

Garretstown is looking onshore for both Saturday and Sunday with 2-3ft blown over conditions Saturday and 3ft blown over conditions Sunday with the winds blowing directly into the beach so no shelter to be had. Inch Beach in Kerry is looking small and windy for Saturday with 1-2ft conditions before Sunday looks to jump up significantly to 6-8ft but with the onshore winds that are forecast, it could look more like 3-4ft with moderate to strong onshore winds.

West Coast

Lahinch is looking small for Saturday with 1-2ft max with only an 8 second period. The winds are also onshore so it will really only serve for lessons or those keen. Sunday looks to jump to 4-6ft but with the winds picking up also to over 20mph onshore, it will make for messy white water conditions. Tides are high at 4.30am and closer to 5pm and on Sunday it will be high after 5am and then 5.30pm.

North West

Conditions in Strandhill on Saturday are going to look small to flat with 1ft conditions at best as the period and swell drop for Saturday and then look to build overnight and into Sunday with Sunday starting off with light winds that then look to be quite gusty. Waves should be in the 4ft range with winds blowing cross onshore for the day making for bumpy conditions. In the Bundoran area, it will be Tullan Strand only on Saturday with 1ft conditions at best and possibly 1-2ft on the first peak. Sunday then looks to build through the day starting off with 2-3ft but building to max out Tullan and really only leave Rossnowlagh as an option but the winds will be onshore so I would probably skip Tullan altogether as it will probably be messy all day.

North Coast

Portrush is looking small to flat for both days over the weekend with offshore winds so give the guys in Troggs Surf School a call for SUP tours.
