East Coast
There are no waves forecast for the east coast for the weekend with no swell coming up the channel. Winds are strong offshore Saturday and light southerlies on Sunday.
South Coast
Saturday in Tramore is showing 2ft wind swell conditions with winds blowing cross shore for the day until the evening when it drops back a little and turns offshore before dark but the waves will still be weak and bumpy from the winds all day. Sunday sees the winds drop back to breezes but as there was only wind swell the day before there are no waves on Sunday other than some small weak waves up to 1ft.
South West
Winds are looking to be the ruin of the conditions in Garretstown with the winds blowing direct onshore all day Saturday with wind swell weak waves in the 1-2ft range blown over with Sunday dropping right back on the winds but still only 1-2ft conditions. Inch Beach in Kerry is looking like the winds are going to mess up Saturday with the wind direction straight onshore blowing up to 25mph on the gusts making for 5-6ft waves blown over with bigger messy waves on sets. Sunday sees the winds turn southerly with the waves in the 3-4ft range but possibly smaller as there is a touch of north in the swell and it is only a 10 second period. Winds will be cross shore and could be lighter than the forecast for Inch due to land drag. There are good grounds for checking some of the spots on the north side of the peninsula on Sunday for some decent conditions.
West Coast
Saturday looks like the winds are moderate to strong onshore for the day with waves in the 5-6ft range with lots of water moving around with the 12 second period bringing bigger conditions. Sunday sees the swell drop back to much better conditions, especially in the morning when the winds are cross offshore in the morning and much lighter. These winds look to pick up in the gusts in the afternoon and turn eventually to be onshore again by 6pm so get on it early and get a good surf in before the winds turn. It’s not going to be perfect offshore due to the previous days onshore conditions but for weekend fun it could be ok. Tides are high at 6am and pm Saturday and 6.30am and pm Sunday but the tides are ranging from 4.5m down to 0.7m which is a big change which means that the tides will drop out fast and come in very fast so leave at least 2 hours either side for safe access and exit.
North West
Strandhill is looking like the westerly winds on Saturday are going to make for messy onshore conditions for the day with the waves in the 6ft region making it a no go zone but there should be waves in the likes of Streedagh but the winds will still be onshore. Aughris might have a little shelter in at the left but this tends to work better when the winds have a touch more south in them. Sunday is a much better should with the waves in Strandhill looking like 4-5ft with winds blowing offshore but gusting at times so watch your position in the water to avoid drifting too much. This swell is dropping all day but the winds are picking up all day so try and pick the best moment to suit your skills. In the Bundoran area Tullan will be maxed out Saturday and the onshore winds would leave it like a storm wash anyway. Sunday should see 3-4ft conditions on Tullan with the winds lightest in the morning and building in strength all day so get on it early as the gusting winds could make for bumpier conditions.
North Coast
The winds are the killer for Portrush on Saturday as there is a nice 12 second period swell coming in but the winds are blowing up to 40mph from the west leaving very little option for shelter with waves in the 5-6ft range. Sunday sees much better conditions with 2-3ft waves on East Strand with the winds blowing offshore all day. East Strand and Whiterocks should both have waves with Whiterocks offering a little bigger size.
