East Coast
It is looking like Saturday on the east coast could have some waves in the afternoon as things build for Storm Dave, yes you read that right, Storm Dave! Winds on the east coast will be blowing up the channel bringing gusts up to 60mph which should start around lunchtime and build all the way into the evening. Wicklow should have waves building throughout the day with the conditions getting bigger as the day goes on. Care should always be exercised when paddling out as the winds actually have a good bit of south west in them meaning cross offshore conditions but the strength is the thing to watch. This is just a small window for swell on Saturday as the swell looks to drop back off again by Sunday which should be small to flat. Monday has some wind swell but this will be small and probably weak conditions.
South Coast
Conditions around Tramore are looking onshore for the weekend as the wind conditions are blowing from the south for Saturday and Monday and from the west on Sunday so all round not a great set up with 3-4ft blown onshore conditions Saturday 4ft blown cross shore Sunday and back to 2-3ft blown onshore Monday.
South West
Garretstown is looking big and messy on Saturday with 6ft plus conditions with winds blowing up to 40mph onshore from the south west. Sunday then sees the winds turn to blow onshore again but this time from the west with bigger conditions. Monday then has the winds blow from the south south east blowing cross shore gusting up to 35mph. Inch Beach is big and messy for the weekend with Saturday being particularly bad in the face of the storm off the west coast. Winds look to be gusting up to nearly 60mph Saturday making it a no go and this continues on into Sunday with well overhead before Monday then sees the winds pick up again and go strong cross shore with waves in the 6-8ft range.
West Coast
Lahinch is looking strong southerly conditions with a touch of west making for strong cross onshore conditions with waves in the 3-4ft blown onshore size. Sunday sees the swell jump a little as it goes more westerly but the winds are blowing directly onshore making for messy conditions. Monday has the best wind direction but the strength is a little strong cross offshore with 2-4ft waves. Tides are high at 7.30am and pm Saturday, 8am and pm and 8.30am and near to 9pm. Leave 2 hours either side for safe entry and exit.
North West
Strandhill is looking nice in the morning with offshore conditions all the way up to lunch time with 6ft conditions with bigger sets and then the conditions turn strong cross shore as the storm kicks in Saturday evening. Sunday then stays onshore all day making for messy 6ft blown onshore conditions all day with no shelter anywhere from the westerly winds. Monday then turns back to offshore for Strandhill with 3-4ft conditions. In the Bundoran area it is looking like Saturday morning will have nice offshore conditions but with the size this will probably only favour Rossnowlagh which could have some nice 3-4ft conditions. It will probably be wonky at Tullan for the morning. By the afternoon the storm kicks in and the wind goes strong southerly with the winds and then Sunday has strong onshore westerly winds. Monday then has nice offshore conditions but the winds are a little strong with 3-4ft waves all day.
North Coast
Saturday has the best conditions for East Strand early in the morning up until around 10am when the winds just pick up and get too strong with the storm. Waves would be in the 3-4ft range for the day. Sunday sees the winds go westerly so it’s onshore and messy. Monday sees the winds turn offshore again for East Strand but the waves will probably only be 2-3ft so the strength of the winds may make it less fun.
