Surf Report for the weekend of the 18th and 19th of May

East Coast

Conditions on the east coast are looking small to flat for the weekend with the waves not breaking greater than 1ft on either day.

South Coast

Tramore is also looking small to flat for the weekend with the swell looking particularly weak Saturday with a much larger period on Sunday but this will still not be enough to break greater than 1ft with offshore winds on both days.

South West

It is looking small in Garretstown with 1-2ft conditions on Saturday but probably more of the 1ft than 2 with Sunday having a greater chance of 2ft conditions with the larger period but this will mean long gaps between sets possibly making it appear flat for large periods with occasional waves. Winds are offshore all weekend. Inch Beach is looking like the swell is just below what is required to bring waves into the beach so expect small 1ft waves on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday does show 2-3ft but the swell is forecast to come from the north west which will struggle to get into the bay with the low period.

West Coast

It is looking very small for Lahinch with the swell coming from the north meaning that the 2-3ft waves that are predicted will be smaller will 1-2ft Saturday and possibly smaller on Sunday with probably only 1ft waves. Winds are light cross shore on Saturday from the north with Sunday seeing light breezes and offshore for Lahinch. Tides are high at 3pm Saturday and closer to 4pm Sunday with the tides being on the smaller side so only 1.5 hours either side out of the water for safe access and exit.

North West

Conditions around around Strandhill are looking like they are going to be small for the weekend with Saturday bringing up to 2ft conditions but the swell has a lot of north in it and is a small 6 second period so I would be expecting small weak waves pushed by an onshore wind just over 10mph with Sunday showing more consistent 2ft conditions with the swell having a better 8 second period and better direction for Strandhill of Northwest. Winds are down to light breezes onshore on Sunday. Around the Bundoran area it is showing small Tullan Strand only conditions with Saturday and Sunday showing 2ft conditions with light onshore breezes for both days with Sunday barely registering winds.

North Coast

In the Portrush area the winds are looking a little stronger with the northwest winds blowing to nearly 20mph on Saturday bringing cooler winds to the 2-3ft conditions on East Strand or Whiterocks which will make for bumpy conditions. Sunday sees the winds drop back but also the swell so things will peak out at 1-2ft with light onshore breezes.
