East Coast

It is looking very flat for the east coast this weekend so only SUP for those who are keen to get in the sea. Give Hugh in Brittas Bay Surf School a shout for SUP Tours and Lessons.

South Coast

Conditions in Tramore are looking small to flat with very little winds over the weekend so only really good for SUP conditions. Tramore SUP and Surf School will be the ones to call down that way if you are keen to get in the water.

South West

Garretstown is looking small this weekend with conditions on Saturday only offering up to 2ft conditions with a small period 8 second swell so really only for foamies or longboards with Sunday looking a good bit better with good 3ft conditions with a 13 second period which should bring some nice punchy waves with good gaps between for getting out the back. Winds are light breezes both days which should barely impact the surf. Inch Beach in Kerry is showing that Saturday could be a little too small for waves with 1-2ft conditions max but Sunday looks like the day to surf with conditions offering up to 6ft waves and good punchy conditions with light onshore breezes.

West Coast

Lahinch is looking like a game of two halves with Saturday offering small 1-2ft conditions with possibly better on sets with winds blowing light cross shore from the south east before Sunday jumps to nice 5-6ft waves with nice clean faces with very light breezes that are barely going to blow or have any impact on the waves. The tides are high at 8am and pm and on Sunday at 9am and pm meaning you are good to get in the water 90 minutes after high on the way out and you have to be out of the water 2 hours before high getting out.

North West

Strandhill is looking like it is going to be flat on Saturday as the swell has a touch of south in it that is not going to make it into Strandhill but Sunday looks to be direct west and could bring some nice 3-4ft conditions with a good period meaning that some of the sets will be bigger but there should also be good gaps between the sets. Winds are light, less than 10mph and should have zero effect on the waves. In the Bundoran area it is showing small to flat for even Tullan on Saturday with Sunday delivering nice 4ft+ conditions on Tullan and maybe 2-3ft in Rossnowlagh with light onshore breezes for both.

North Coast

It is looking very flat on all beaches on Saturday with good offshore winds with Sunday bringing 1-2ft conditions for East Strand with light offshore winds. There is a good 14 second period so it may bring a little bigger wave on sets in between so good for longer boards or foamies or just for those who are keen.

East Coast

Things are looking small to flat for Saturday, with maybe 1ft Sunday and similar for Monday with winds blowing from the south for Saturday pushing swell up for Sunday with light winds Sunday mostly light onshore with Monday bringing cooler northerly winds.

South Coast

It’s also looking small to flat for Saturday in Tramore with no incoming swell with Sunday building from nowhere to bring 3-4ft clean offshore conditions to the south coast with easterly winds which will be light enough to not mess with the waves and should make for some nice soft conditions as the period is still a little small at 9 seconds. Monday drops back again with a small 2ft pulse in the morning before quickly dropping back to 1ft for the rest of the day.

South West

Garretstown is forecasting 1ft conditions for Saturday with light variable direction breezes with Sunday jumping up like Tramore to bring 4ft conditions and offshore winds in the morning dropping to 2-3ft by evening with small periods suiting longer boards or short boards with more volume better. Sunday sees things return to 1-2ft conditions with northerly winds making it cross offshore but small waves. Around Inch Beach in Kerry Saturday is looking marginal for waves with the conditions being on the borderline for waves but it could have 1-2ft clean offshore conditions. Sunday sees the winds go northerly which will make the 1-2ft conditions a little bumpy and Monday looks to be a little stronger on the northerly winds making for more messy waves but still only in the 1-2ft region.

West Coast

Conditions in Lahinch are looking small for the weekend with conditions being in around 1-2ft Saturday with possibly more of the 2ft conditions with the 11 second period and light breezes. Sunday sees similar 1-2ft conditions with light offshore breezes. Monday sees a slight pulse coming from the north which could bring slight bigger waves but with the north in the swell it could just bring slightly bigger period 2ft waves with light onshore breezes. Tides are high at 3pm Saturday, 4pm Sunday and 5pm Monday so leave 2 hours either side of high for safe access and exit.

North West

In the northwest it is looking like both Saturday and Sunday are going to struggle to get above 1-2ft with light onshore breezes for both days. It won’t be until Monday when Strandhill will get up to 2-3ft conditions with light breezes from the north west. This would be a similar set of conditions for the Bundoran area with Saturday looking small to flat with light onshore breezes. Sunday is showing 1-2ft max for Tullan with the wind barely blowing at all before Monday sees things jump a little to 2-3ft in the afternoon with light breezes but it will be Tullan as the only option.

North Coast

On the north coast it is looking like Saturday will be flat with light offshore breezes barely blowing, Sunday could see 1ft with light breezes onshore with Monday possibly pushing up to 1-2ft with onshore winds up to 15mph at times making it a little messy bumpy waves.

Conditions on the east coast are looking small to flat for the weekend with the onshore winds making for small messy onshore conditions. Waves will not be much above 1-2ft with barely hitting 1ft Sunday.

South Coast

Tramore is showing conditions of barely 1ft for the weekend with winds blowing offshore on both days but not enough swell for waves.

South West

Garretstown is also showing small conditions for Saturday with 2ft waves poredicted for Saturday with flat for Sunday with offshore winds on both days but again not enough swell for waves. Inch Beach in Kerry is looking like it is going to have 2-3ft conditions for Saturday but this is coming from a northerly swell which may reduce down the size of the waves with Sundays swell not big enough to produce any waves above 1-2ft with onshore winds.

West Coast

Lahinch is having some nice conditions today (Friday) but this does has not hit the 5-8ft that was predicted as the swell is coming from the north. Saturday is showing 4-6ft on the charts but this is probably looking more like 2-3ft with north in the swell killing off some of the size. Sunday will probably have 1-2ft conditions but the winds are showing light onshore winds compared to Saturdays offshore breezes. Tides are high at 8am and pm with Sunday high at 9am and 9pm with the tides high enough to need to be out of the water 2 hours either side of high.

North West

Reports from Satrandhill were of some nice conditions on Friday with Saturday showing 3-4ft conditions as the north west in the swell will favour Strandhill over the spots down south. Winds are light offshore breezes making for some really nice conditions. Sunday looks to have 2ft conditions with winds that are showing onshore but will probably barely blow. In the Bundoran area it should be a nice 3ft conditions on Tullan Strand with no winds blowing at all with Sunday showing waves in the 1-2ft region with again no wind.

North Coast

Conditions in Portrush are showing 2ft for Saturday on East Strand with light breezes but these conditions will probably only favour foamies or longboards. Sunday looks to be too small to break over 1ft on any of the beaches.

East Coast

It is looking like Wicklow will only have 1-2ft waves for Saturday with moderate winds from the south for most of the day. Sunday sees the swell drop back leaving it small to flat for the day with cross offshore winds from the south west.

South Coast

Conditions in Tramore are looking to have some nice small waves coming through on Saturday but the winds are blowing onshore for most of the day before turning cross shore in the afternoon. Waves should be in the 2ft region but most likely looking blown over and crumbling white water waves coming in with Sunday starting off small at 1ft building to 2ft conditions but the winds are still onshore for the day making for white water waves only.

South West

Saturday in Garretstown is showing that the winds are really going to mess with any chance of clean conditions with waves in the 4ft region but blown lumpy from the west winds with Saturday showing 3ft lumpy waves with the best chance of any respite from the winds being Sunday morning early. Inch Beach in Kerry is showing it to be blown out for both Saturday and Sunday with the onshore winds making for messy onshore conditions that will not really have much for improvers.

West Coast

Lahinch does not look to fare much better with messy onshore conditions for both Saturday and Sunday with the Saturday showing 5-6ft waves blown over by the onshore winds which will make things look smaller. Sunday is slightly smaller but the onshore winds are going to make things look smaller but not really offer much by way of good conditions for improvers. The winds are onshore on both Saturday and Sunday. Tides are high at 9am Saturday and 10am Sunday so avoid the water 2 hours before and after high tide.

North West

Strandhill is looking maxed out for the weekend with the swell showing 5-8ft conditions which are too big for Strandhill where there will be too much water moving around. The onshore winds will make it a struggle to catch anything other than the waves on the inside. Sunday morning has a slight reprieve in the winds with cross onshore winds on Sunday with 4ft conditions forecast. In the Bundoran area, Tullan Strand will be a mess and the westerly conditions will mean that Streedagh is not an option either with only Rossnowlagh offering any waves that may have manners on them but the onshore winds will make for 3ft messy waves Saturday and 3-4ft messy waves Sunday.

North Coast

Portrush looks to have some nice waves forecast for Friday but Saturday and Sunday have quiet a bit of west in the winds which may offer a small bit of shelter at the Arcadia end of East Strand but be mindful of the strong rip in the corner. Saturday could have 3-4ft conditions on East Strand. Sunday sees the winds have a touch more south than Saturday so East Strand could have some clean conditions but with the smaller period, I would be thinking 2-3ft waves with moderate cross offshore conditions but these could be the best option for anywhere in the country by virtue of direction and shelter.

Storm Kathleen Warning

Storm Kathleen is going to be passing over the country with Yellow and Orange warnings for individual counties so please refer to the weather warnings from Met.ie pertaining to your area of the country

East Coast

Saturday is looking like there are going to be very strong winds blowing up the Irish Sea gusting to nearly 60mph with swell up to 13ft predicting waves of up to 4-6ft which is quite rare for the east coast but the winds are the real concern as this have the ability to blow anyone off course very easily. In Wicklow the waves should be 3-4ft with bigger on sets with the winds blowing from the south very strong on Saturday. Sunday sees the winds back off but not by much with gusts still running to 50mph with waves in the 2-4ft region. Care should be exercised in these conditions and I would recommend that only experienced surfers get in the water.

South Coast

With the strong southerly winds there are going to be no spots offering shelter on the south coast so no surf on this coast for improvers.

South West

Garretstown is another spot that is going to be maxed out for the weekend for both swell and surf. Inch Beach in Kerry will also be off limits.

West Coast

Lahinch is another spot that is too exposed to Storm Kathleen so give it a miss for this weekend.

North West

Strandhill looks to avoid the brunt of the large swells but does not get missed by the strong winds up to 60mph so avoid. Sunday sees the winds strong cross onshore so again, I would give this a miss. The same can be said for the Bundoran area with Tullan and Rossnowlagh both off limits with the strong winds. Streedagh may have a small on Sunday but the winds will probably be too strong for any enjoyment of said small waves. Of course Monday sees normal service resume!

North Coast

In the Portrush area the winds are the only problem as it does not look like much swell will get into any of the beaches on Saturday. On Sunday the winds are nearly 50mph offshore for the likes of Whiterocks or East Strand which may have the effect of blowing the swell out to sea with 2-3ft conditions forecast but the offshore winds may have something to say about that.

East Coast

It is looking like the east coast may have some small waves in Wicklow over the coming weekend with Friday potentially delivering 2ft with maybe bigger depending on the tides with the winds blowing strong from the south. Saturday starts around 1-2ft but should be 2ft from lunch with south winds again. Sunday shows a slight jump in the waves but this is due to the wind turning south east meaning onshore messy 2ft waves with Monday dropping back to 1ft wind swell waves from the onshore winds.

South Coast

Tramore looks really good today (Thursday) but the winds go southerly for Friday Saturday and Sunday. Friday looks like 5-6ft conditions blown over from the onshore winds, Saturday could be 3-4ft blown onshore, and Sunday 2ft blown onshore with Monday looking like light onshore winds but the swell has dropped right back to 1-2ft with light breezes peaking at 10mph.

South West

Offshore conditions today (Thursday) in Garretstown but turning onshore for Friday to Monday with Friday bringing 6ft plus conditions blown onshore, Saturday with similar messy onshore conditions. Sunday sees the winds turn easterly which could be ok for Garretstown but the swell is dropping back to around the 3ft range with Monday similar sized waves but the winds are back blowing from the south. Inch Beach in Kerry is showing southerly winds for Friday, Saturday and Monday with Sunday showing easterly offshore winds. Swell sizes are looking like 4-5ft building Friday, Saturday looking like 3-4ft as there is a lot of south in the swell with Sunday showing slightly smaller and a lower period so maybe only 2-3ft with moderate offshore winds. Monday is marginal as the swell is the right direction but a little small so maybe only 1-2ft.

West Coast

Lahinch is showing some class conditions for today (Thursday) with light breezes. Friday looks to have the swell drop but the light winds are hanging around all be it a little onshore but only breezes so still nice conditions with 2-3ft waves and bigger on sets with the 12 second period but the swell is slightly northerly. Saturday sees the swell swing more southerly but the winds look to pick up from the south east which is cross shore for most of the bay and gusting strongly with waves in the 2-3ft range. Just watch your board in those winds. Sunday sees the swell drop back to 1-2ft with northerly swell and a weaker period with offshore winds. Monday drops back with northerly swell angles which may make for 1ft conditions. Tides are high at the following times (Clocks go forward Sunday night) 7.30am and pm Friday, 8am and 8.30pm Saturday, 9.30am Sunday and 10.30am Monday so leave at least 2 hours either side for safe access and exit.

North West

Strandhill is showing good conditions today (Thursday) with Friday looking similar at 3ft conditions with light offshore winds with Saturday turning more northerly in the swell with 3ft conditions that may bring bigger on sets with a 14 second period and the winds turning more southerly which may favour some of the more northerly facing spots such as Enniscrone with 3-4ft conditions expected but probably still favouring longboards. Sunday sees it drop back to 2-3ft with moderate offshore winds which may blow the swell out to sea and similar for Monday as the waves drop back to 1-2ft. In the Bundoran area it is showing conditions are a little smaller with the weekend looking like a Tullan only affair with 3ft conditions for Friday with light offshore breezes with Saturday dropping off to 1-2ft conditions and moderate cross offshore winds which could blow the swell away with Sunday showing similar due to the smaller period and continued moderate offshore winds before Monday drops back to 1ft conditions with moderate offshore winds.

North Coast

In the Portrush area they have had some really nice conditions for Wednesday and Thursday but the weekend is looking like Friday could have 1-2ft with a good 13 second period which should see more 2ft than 1 with light offshore breezes. Saturday sees the winds jump up to 20mph plus offshore with 1-2ft conditions. Sunday sees the winds continue offshore with a touch more east in the direction but still lots of north in the swell so possibly the south end of West Strand could have 1-2ft conditions and be offshore with Monday struggling to get above 1ft with moderate to strong easterly winds.

Conditions on both Saturday and Sunday are looking small to flat for Wicklow with very little sign of any swell to bring waves.

South Coast

Tramore is looking like it will struggle to break over 1ft for the weekend so it will be small ankle slappers only with moderate to strong West North West winds Saturday and light breezes Sunday.

South West

Conditions in Garretstown are looking messy on Saturday with moderate to strong winds blowing from the West North West which will bring cross shore conditions making for messy 3ft conditions blown over. Sunday looks much tamer with 2-3ft conditions on the beach with slight onshore breezes for the day. Inch Beach in Kerry is showing big and messy onshore conditions on Saturday so give that a miss with Sunday looking much more under control although the winds are showing some strength but I would expect this to be much lighter than forecast with 3-4ft conditions on the beach a light to moderate cross onshore conditions.

West Coast

Lahinch is a similar affair with big and onshore on Saturday so while the swell is going to be much reduced by the north direction in the swell, it is the winds that are going to mess up play. Sunday sees the winds go cross offshore and they are much lighter. There should still be a bit of bump on the waves from the day before but it should still have 2-3ft conditions with the potential for bigger on sets. Tides are high at 4:30 Saturday and 5 on Sunday so be out of the water around 2:30-3 each day to allow for safe exit.

North West

Strandhill and all the spots around it will be maxed out on Saturday with the size of the conditions and the wind direction which will even ruin things for Aughris which tends to offer shelter in bigger conditions so Saturday is a write off. Sunday looks like it could be a really good Rossnowlagh day with 4ft conditions on the beach. Strandhill will be chunky with 5-6ft conditions with light breezes only. Tullan could have a wave also but it will offer a lot more push and could be messy with a good bit of water moving around.

North Coast

All the spots around Portrush will be maxed out on Saturday with the conditions offering no shelter and the onshore winds shall continue to leave a little bump on the conditions going into Sunday but the winds drop significantly on Sunday to offer some good conditions on East Strand and Whiterocks which should both see 4-6ft conditions with some good juice in the waves.
